Sarah’s work has recently appeared in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and O the Oprah Magazine. She is the author of a collection of poetry, Always Moving (Bowery Books,2011) as well as several nonfiction books: Om Schooled (Addriya Press,2012), Essential Yoga (Fair Winds Press, 2013). She is currently completing a young adult novel and collection of short stories.
Sarah is a grateful member of the Bowery Poetry Club community and has read at the Cornelia Street Cafe, Bluestockings Bookstore, and St. Marks Poetry Project. Her short fiction has been anthologized in Francesca Lia Block’s collection, Love Magick and Just Like a Girl. Her poetry appears in Bowery Women alongside writers Sapphire and Anne Waldman. Sarah has worked for Gotham Writers’ Workshop and has taught and mentored teen girl writers in the NYC public school system through Girls Write Now. Sarah is a graduate of New York University’s English and Creative Writing programs and is currently completing an MFA in Writing for Young People through Lesley University with extensive coursework through the New School.
Sarah’s writing practice is strongly influenced by her practices of yoga, Buddhist meditation and visual art. She feels so grateful to all the writers and teachers who have encouraged her through authentic story, voice, and the search for relentless honesty.
