Sarah Herrington is a NYC-based writer and yogi.
Writing: Sarah’s poetry appears in the anthology “Bowery Women” alongside writers such as Sapphire and Anne Waldman, and her short Young Adult-focused fiction in the anthology “Just Like A Girl.” She has published creative work in dozens of print and online journals and has mentored and taught teen girl writers through Girls Write Now. She has read at the Bowery Poetry Club, Cornelia Street Café, St Marks Poetry Project and other venues. A graduate of NYU’s English and writing program, her written work is strongly influenced by her practices of yoga and Buddhist meditation.
Yoga: A dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher, Sarah currently teaches kids and teen yoga full-time in Manhattan. She has taught 20-25 kids classes a week for several years in NYC public and charter schools as well as studios, working with a year-long yoga curriculum she created. She has written about kids and youth yoga for NYYoga magazine, Mindbodygreen, Yoganomics and Independent Yoga and has led workshops for other teachers. She has also led Yoga and Creative Writing workshops. Sarah is particularly passionate about bringing yoga to youth and weaving in concepts of creativity into the practice.
