nesting
when i see small birds
something in my head
crows
hatched in me.
i feel my wings searching
for other wings
to blanket me against
the falling sky, its winds
i’ve begun collecting string and stray hairs
searching out nourishment
alighting, landing in a daily pattern
of questions and answers, heaven and earth
over the ledge
the strong winds
on my face
as if i’m flying,
searching for home.
